Characteristics and Needs of Beagle puppies What to consider before bringing a Beagle home
|
- Size: While initially not much more than a handful, your beagle puppy will grow to a height
of 13-15 inches.
- Weight: Your Beagle puppy will wind up weighing between 18 and 30 pounds as an adult.
- Following its nose: Beagles are scent hounds and they'll dart away in a split-second if
something interests them. Early and strict obedience training can subdue this Beagle Characteristic.
- As a member of the family: Beagles are know for their great temperament and are not
known for aggression or timidity. Beagles are high-energy dogs which makes them great around kids. Beagles can do well with other animals, but sometimes need to be socialized with a newcomer. Note: Do not leave a Beagle alone with a new kitten, pet rabbit or similar animals.
- Best living environment for a Beagle: This breed thrives in just about any setting.
However it is important to provide exercise for your Beagle. If inactive, Beagles can become quite fat and unhealthy. Remember...if taking your Beagle for a walk, always use a leash.
- Beagle care: Beagles should be brushed every day and an occasional bath will subdue
the Beagles' hound smell. One important aspect of Beagle care is a Beagles' ears which are subject to ear infections. It's important to avoid getting water inside a Beagles' ears.
